They were only sold for a year in Canada, and they’re extremely rare. Would be hard to find one without importing one from the States.
But still, I want one. Mitsubishi’s only attempt at bringing one of their Australian-market cars to NA.

Because.
I don’t know.

I'm curious about the diamanté as well. Then I figure that they all cost less than 2,000 for a reason.

Just...no. Years ago one of my moms co workers had one. He swore by it like he was driving an S Class or something. Its just not a good car.

Fuck all the haters in here (YOU HEARD ME YOU BASTARDS) the Diamante was Mitsubishi’s flagship in the US and that shit was tight.
Auto-adjusting headlights, supple leather interior with fantastic rear seating, huge trunk, a silky-smooth V6 that compared favorably to other contemporary 6-cyl. engines, active traction control with yaw control, etc. It was a near-luxury vehicle built to compete with the Lexus ES300, and did a pretty good job of it. The only fault was it never got the JDM goodies (AWD, bigger V6), but I think they’re still great vehicles, if you can find parts for them.

My friend’s mom has one. We use it for parts runs when all our other cars are in pieces.
It’s the fastest car we have access too. Really not that bad.

If you’re going to import a Mitsubishi, why not a Legnum instead?
![]() 03/03/2016 at 10:15 |

Because importing a car from the US to Canada is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy easier than importing a car from Japan.
I’d still rock a Legnum though.

First gen Diamante’s were ‘the good ones’ back when Mitsu put tech in their cars, although also damned by emissions issues in the V6 + Tranny failures around 100K Lots of great car for the money if well cared for. Subsequent versions of the Diamante were made cheaper and the last gen was basically a bloated Galant with leather seats. Not really Mitsubishi’s finest hour on the last Diamante. Get a Lancer Hatchback Ralliart instead.

Only the first gen qualifies. The other, newer ones were crap, and this coming from a DSM fanboy. Why hasn’t anyone put a V6 twin turbo on a galant or Diamante?

I had one as a rental once. It was not very good. Seats felt like packing foam and the engine was crap. Got worse mileage than my Mustang.

They have in Australia I’m sure of it. There’s at least been one single turbo Diamante I know of down under.
